Obituary of Enid Barrett

It is with broken hearts and much sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Passed peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, after a short illness, on April 5, 2024, Enid Barrett (nee Hibbs) in her 91styear. Predeceased by her mother Emma Jane, father Fred, brother Walter (special friend Marina). Left to mourn are herloving husband of 68 years, Maxwell, her two daughters, Maxine Dawe (Neil), Susan Butler (Arthur) and her brother Gerald Hibbs (Ida), her three grandsons Matthew Dawe (Katlyn), Luke Butler (Melissa) and Mark Dawe. Also, her four great-grandchildren, Mallory and Marshall Dawe, Finn and Xander Butler. She leaves behind nieces Heather, Elizabeth and nephew Fred and families. She also leaves behind many other family and friends. 

Enid was a registered nurse who spent most of her working life as a district nurse in Conception Bay South. She was well recognized as the school nurse throughout the community and asa leader of the Girl Guides of Canada.

Many special thanks to the management and staff at Admiral’s Coast for the exceptional care they extended to her over the last three years. Thank you to her family doctor, Dr. Emily Ursel, the doctors and nurses of the Emergency Department and 7 East at St. Clare’s who took great care of her during her last days.

Visitation in Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 4 – 7 pm. Funeral service in Hickey’s Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 1:30 pm. Cremation has already taken place. Interment in Forest Road Anglican Cemetery, St. John’s at a later date.
